Bishop Sutton Pre-School & Forest Club Newsletter

It’s that time again! Dust off your jingle bells and shake out your tinsel, because December is fast approaching and so is our glittering Christmas Fayre. On Sunday 9 December 12-4pm at Bishop Sutton Village Hall we’ll be hosting a feast of festivities, complete with the return of Santa’s Grotto, children’s crafts, face painting, grand raffle prizes, and of course the chance to shop for one-off gifts. Indulge in a host of refreshments including mulled wine and cider, hot chocolate and crêpes, and our famously delicious Yule dogs. There’ll also be an opportunity to collect your Christmas tree – do just complete and return the order form you’ll have received from Pre-School. We look forward to welcoming you and making this one a cracker!

Also approaching is the ever-popular Christingle Service at Stowey Church on Sunday 2 December at 4pm. Bring your little ones to take part in the Christingle procession, sing along to carols by candlelight and hear the magical Nativity story. The church has a very special atmosphere and the service is the perfect way to shepherd in Advent.

Pre-School, too, is busy gearing up for the season, with Christmas activities galore and the ever-popular story of ‘The Rockin’ Robin’ flying in once again. Down the chimney also drops an array of brand new Pre-School equipment, including an exciting weather vane and windsock, sure to capture imaginations and enrich learning sessions. As always we are very much looking forward to the children’s Nativity Party, which takes place on Wednesday 19 December. There’ll be the usual lucky dip for food provision, so don’t be alarmed when someone approaches you with a box and asks you to have a rummage!

If you would like to volunteer to help at the Christmas Fayre, please add your name to the list outside the School Room or speak to one of the staff or committee. We need helping hands, keen bakers and tombola treats, and would be very grateful for any time or donations you can spare. All funds raised from the Fayre go to support the Pre-School and provide our children with the resources they enjoy every day. The Pre-School is a charity and without parents coming together to fundraise it simply wouldn’t be able to operate. We love and believe in our happy, nurturing, inspirational Pre-School and want it to thrive not just for our children but also for the village in years to come.

We had huge fundraising success at September’s Chew Moo’s Open Day, which was a wonderful event enjoyed by all who came. We’d like to sincerely thank committee member Suzanne and her family for their amazing generosity, for providing the children’s entertainments, the sunny weather and of course the scrumptious ice cream!

Please keep an eye out for our appeals over the coming months and do get involved if you can. There’s also an easy-peasy way to help support our efforts and that’s through the charity shopping fundraising site easyfundraising.org.uk. All you have to do is search for Bishop Sutton Pre-School then visit retailers and shop online as normal. Every purchase you make sends a lovely £2.5% automatically to our Pre-School. There are loads of major retailers signed on, so next time you’re thinking of buying from John Lewis or M&S, take just a few seconds to go through easyfundraising. You know it makes sense!

Until next time, keep warm and enjoy the jolly season
And best wishes,
Bishop Sutton Pre-School and Forest Club Committee
