On Saturday 14 October 2017 Bishop Sutton Village Hall was packed with people from far and wide who enjoyed a fabulous night of comedy and curry, courtesy of the fantastic Dr Phil Hammond and Sutton Spice restaurant.
Phil Hammond brought comedy home to Bishop Sutton with an unforgettable evening of amusing anecdotes and side-splitting stories drawn from his 30-year career as a NHS GP, and delivered with first-class stand-up showmanship – and of course his wonderful West Country meets Western Australian accent! We learnt about his theories of life, love and surviving the NHS, neatly summarised as ‘CLANGERS’, and were entertained with his many stories, experiences and observations – and the audience even got involved too (just ask them about the ‘hugging’!)
Dr Phil’s ‘Hilarious Homecoming’ gig was organised by the parent committee of Bishop Sutton Pre-School and Forest Club to raise essential funds for the pre-school and we are so very pleased to say that the final total will be well over £1500!
Annabelle Spinney, chair of the parent committee, says, ‘What a wonderful evening of entertainment and food and fundraising! Thank you to the team of volunteers who made it happen and to the audience who helped us to raise these key funds to replenish toys, materials and resources at our village pre-school.”
